Fucking richcels are just hating on Chef Ramsay's gourmet meals because they're jealous that the common man can afford to get meals made by a Michelin starred chef.

They use a machine to siphon drool from him while he sleeps then put a drop in every tray so Gordon can spit in every meal. You rarely get that kind of personal touch with frozen food.

I've knowticed over the years the amount of time you actually need to microwave frozen dinners or sauces etc whatever is much less. It's not about the power of my microwave. I just think they add a minute or three more than they need.

Most people are idiots and think “Microwave for 5 minutes” means nuking it for 5 minutes straight then eating it immediately. Unless you’ve got a restaurant grade microwave you cook for 2-3 minutes at a time and let it stand for a minute. The manufacturers add extra time so the average moron won’t complain about a cold center even though the outside is hotter than the surface of the sun.

I've knowticed they normally state 50% power or say open and stir and continue for another X minutes.

If the box just says 5 minutes, I am going to assume it means 5 minutes at 100% power. If it doesn't state let cool down for X minutes, I am going to assume it does not need a chance to rest.

In all honesty, and given that children have an inherant capability of consent, it's up to the directions. You should not assume things when you give explicit directions for the preparation of your product.

There are no universal standards when it comes to microwaves, many models don’t even have power settings anymore (and people who have them won’t bother to use them) so they shoot for the middle and come up with instructions that will do “good enough” for the majority of simpletons who don’t have the capacity for independent thought. They’ll burn their tongues on the first bite but at least they won’t write angry emails about it being too cold in the middle.

You are very definitive in your posts, yet I still often see detailed instructions that state what you should do if you have an 800 vs. 1100 watt microwave. So yes, you have a point, they are probably aiming for the middle of the road and maybe adding some percent tolerance of microwave time more for the substandard microwaves.

              >what you should do if you have an 800 vs. 1100 watt microwave
They used to do this in the US but you just don’t see it anymore. If I asked 50 people what wattage their microwave is I’d wager none of them would even know what I’m talking about.

Not him, but I don't see the issue with a chef having his own frozen prepared food line. I am sure it had to pass his stringent standards before he signed on to be the spokesman of the food.

I'll give it a try but there are no Walmarts within 40-50 miles of me so hopefully they still have them in late November when I go into the warehouse club to stock up for the winter months.

when "A" chef does it, it really doesn't matter
When Mr. Ramsay himself does it, especially when you think about how he choses to portray himself publicly, it just comes off as odd.

You think this is something he himself would ever eat? I doubt it

He seems like a normal guy. A normal guy who likes his idea of good food, but that doesn't mean in his real life he'd not be fine eating fast food or microwave food. Everything I eat doesn't have to be a culinary masterpiece. He probably gave his opinion and worked with the food maker and tweaked it some to what was feasible and appealed to the most palates in tastes tests. Sure, he probably could have improved it more, but he knows what it was meant for. Reasonable tasting food quick that works well being reheated in the microwave.

If a “chef” needs to meticulously time everything and can’t simply determine the readiness of a meal on gut instinct and educated guessing, he’s no longer a chef he’s just a food babysitter.
