the Massachusetts Bay Colony expanded throughout the 1600s to a mass of land that was legally, and administratively, one entity called New England. This made sense as a colony that had one government and culture even though it had slowly expanding borders.

After a few decades though it became very hard to govern strictly from Boston; let's not forget that in those days it took an entire day by carriage to travel some 30 miles, and maximum 40-50 miles by horse. They eventually broke it up and established separate regional governments based on population and economic centers. MA, ME, RI, NH, VT( sorta), and CT were all once New England, long before the USA ever happened, and we have very much a shared culture and absolutely shared history.

the menu is of choices of protein (different types and combinations of meat) with a preset bread, cheese option, whether it's toasted or not, then your choice of vegetables and they ask if you want to modify the selection at each step
