>have been suffering through this weird form of constipation for several months, where i put in tremendous amounts of effort and straining just for a few nugget turds
>cut a ton of food out of my diet, eat more fiber, drink more water etc
>i had also realized i was only eating about 1300 calories a day, (i am a skelly) try eating more
>no change, still struggle to shit
>be me a couple of days ago
>cooking breakfast, frying eggs in butter
>aha!.gif
>realize that this is probably causing my shit struggles
>go to trader joe’s and buy pic related
>cook everything in it
>be me now
>just took a massive shit with minimal effort
so that was it? the solution to my bowel problems was not cooking with butter and swapping it out with coconut oil?

      weird, I'm half Asian and have the same problem as you... I also recently started using butter. maybe I should stop using butter and see if that fixes it.
      strange because I have drunk a shitload of milk since youth and it doesn't do that

    I've never heard of butter causing constipation. It's possible that all the other changes finally started helping, but you'd have to maintain your current diet and adding butter back in to be sure.

      Just make ghee out of the butter, boiling off the milk solids makes it completely digestible. I suggest consuming Kefir.

      Hate to rain on your parade but I really, REALLY doubt replacing butter with coconut oil did that. The only thing that would affect you in butter would be the lactose, but there's practically none of it in the amount of butter you would use. It's probably just a coincidence or you made some other diet change that caused the difference.
      Diet can affect you with a time lag of multiple days, especially with constipation so it could really be anything. But replacing one fat with another is near the bottom of the list.

      It's the eggs not the butter, i have a similar experience that when i eat eggs my shit get's harder

      Doesn't matter. Choice between crippling constipation or eggs with a barely preceptible hint of coconut, the coconut wins. Unrefined will always be healthier than refined, even if you're not a conspiracy theorist.

        get refined coconut oil. it's the same thing without the strong coconut flavor. i understand the health benefits of refined, but unrefined is meant to be eaten raw, not heated to the point of frying food with it.

    I actually suffer the exact same thing, although some changes I’ve made have mitigated it greatly. For the 2-3 days a month it does flare up, I’ll try coconut oil. Thanks. Also don’t eat eggs at all. They make it so much worse.

    I get “sharp” poop once in a while and I hate it. What helps me is just eating tons of fruit, but I don’t like grinding through apples. I’ll try this but OP you’re a double Black person if this just turns out to be shilling for trader joe or Big Coconut

    Increasing fiber could be the problem, especially if you're sensitive to FODMAPS (look up a chart/ graphic to see if you're consuming a lot).

    A lot of recommendations for fiber are based on the presupposition that someone's eating SAD and hardly getting any to begin with.

    Just be aware that increasing fiber could be clogging things up, especially if consumed raw. Obviously dietary fats but I doubt that a 1:1 swap of butter to coconut oil did much unless you have some weird allergy and butter represented a significant proportion of your daily caloric intake.
