I dont know if this count, but I used to work in a boutique beef and lamb processing plant that employed a ton of Arabs and exported a ton to the middleeast , and it was a pretty popular thing to cut a tiny part of a moving part of the lamp leg and eat it straight because Arabs like fresh raw meat. My friend, bilal used to always do it when th supervisor wasnt looking. He said sometimes he feels it moving in his mouth.

Different peppers have very unique and tasty flavors if you have the tolerance for the spiciness. In my opinion, the spiciness adds to the enjoyment, though. It's a very enjoyable sensation connected to a lot of childhood memories. Unfortunately, when you build up a tolerance, you have to go spicier and spicier to get the same kick.

If a steak is medium rare aka 40% still raw
What is your issue with people having it 80-90% still raw?
What is difference with people consuming 40ish% more raw meat than you?

Do you have some mental blockage where having 50%+ rawness is somehow changing the steak? Well it isn't.
You're eating the same shit but being a petty c**t that people have less % cooked meat than you prefer.
    You're still eating raw meat
They are still eating cooked meat
It's none of your fricking business.

Literally the only thing doneness does is consistency through rendering fat and the sear.
    Which is all preference.
Some people like chewing steak, same way peopel like chewing tobacco or jerky.

      Anonymous

only plebs can't appreciate well-done steak. they say well-done is inherently overcooked and can't even differentiate between cooking a steak to an internal temperature of 160F and 170F, they'd say it's the same. did you know well-done steaks are actually more flavorful? when protein is cooked to well-done it contracts and squeezes out excess water. this means the flavor of the steak is concentrated. people who like less than well-done are basically saying "wow this watery steak is great". most carnivores who eat raw meat don't even chew it, which is why less than well-done is actually chewier, but people act like this is better for some reason. when meat is well-done the muscle fibers shred apart more easily, this is better for us since we actually chew our food. something like a lion or wolf just tears off chunks of meat and swallow them whole, people don't do this, so less than well-done is actually chewier. steaks are overrated anyway, it's like a bare minimum of effort to actually prepare them. i'd rather have a good braised piece of fatty meat, that's way better, especially once the fat has started to melt and become buttery. notice how a lot of people just cut the fat off the steak and don't eat it because it's chewy? that's wasteful and you're missing out on something that could be really good. i dunno why steak has gotten to be such a premium product with so many strange rituals surrounding it. i guess people just fell for the marketing of it being a premium product and eating an undercooked chewy steak making them cultured and superior. i'd even rather just have a good burger over a steak. welcome to good burger home of the good burger, can i take your order? who loves orange soda? kel loves orange soda. is it true? i do i do i do-o. benis.

    >Blue
Tried it at a nice restaurant just to say I did it. Loved the texture, but not much flavor to speak of. Very juicy. Probably wouldn't do it again.

    >Rare
IMO, the best way to prepare a steak. Lots of flavor and perfect texture. Still juicy.

    >Medium Rare
Maximum amount of acceptable cooking for a steak. Beyond this, it's too tough and not juicy enough.

    >Medium
"Damn, I got distracted and cooked my steak too long. I guess I'll make do. It's not ruined."

    >Medium Well
I will get tired of eating this well before I've cleaned my plate. If you aim for this, you have brain damage.

    >Well Done
Literally no taste. If you are eating steaks well done, it better be because of severe hypochondria and a fear of food poisoning. You're still brain damaged, though.

    >Medium rare
    >Not pretentious

It might be popular, but it's popular because of a pretension; that medium rare is a more sophisticated way to eat steak.

It's impossible to separate actual enjoyment of eating a medium rare steak from the image associated with medium rare steaks, hence, it's fair to doubt the stated reason for enjoying medium rare and assume one does it for the social benefits, therefore making it a pretension.

Hell, you probably have a pretentious understanding of pretentiousness, you likely think it means "He talks like a gay and his shit's all moronic" a'la Idiocracy. That's not what it means. Typically, it applies to people who are out of the depth; they try to imitate intellectualism despite being as intelligent as (You).

Raw steak is actually unironically good. I usually buy a huge steak and ration it for a few days. First day is steak sashimi. Then second day I'll make beef and bell peppers. Third day, I'll have a nice buttery steak. Dry brined then rubbed and buttered up before it goes into the pan.

Every level of steak doneness can be enjoyable in the correct application. Posers, idiots, reddit gays, and people that just can't think for themselves are the only ones who cling to their preferred steak temp as if it's a defining part of their personality.
