They're way too sweet and way too big, I only go for granny smith apples.
They're actually pretty good. The first time I had it I was pretty underwhelmed, but that's because the hype was kind of ridiculous for a while and I didn't really understand what the Cosmic Crisp was actually supposed to be. It's a replacement for Red Delicious: super consistent, doesn't blemish easily, keeps well all year. The difference of course is that it is actually delicious. The flavor isn't anything special, very much a traditional apple taste. But it's always super crisp, always has a bit of tang, and always sweet. It's just good.

obligatory braeburn post. apples were solved 70 years ago. to say otherwise is to admit that you've never eaten a braeburn.
Braeburn used to be my favorite 10+ years ago. But now they hardly sell them anywhere anymore. And the quality was not reliable.
The humble Elstar will always trump all
For me it is the McIntosh. I like the softer texture. But it's not available as often because of the softer texture making it easier to damage and reducing shelf life. All other apples upset my stomach a little bit unless cooked.
I eat 2-3 apples a day, and I love honeycrisps. But I think I prefer the cosmic crisp, it has better flavor. In any case, the texture is just right for both of them.
honeycrisp makes the handsdown best apple cider, but for eating apples, I like Gala, Fuji, the best, maybe jonagold ranked next. Pazazz are the new honeycrisp. I expect we'll see more of them in the coming years.

Yep. This is why I can't consider Honeycrisp a top-tier apple even if the good ones are great. Just way too inconsistent, and they're absolutely awful when they're bad.
while this could be the case with any apple and singling out honeycrisp may be unfair, I will say I've never EVER had a bad granny smith

My favorite apple is from the heirloom tree in my yard, it’s some hybrid I don’t know. Light green and a nice crunch every bite.
