The Old Growler is a cool dude, and definitely knowledgeable. Don’t know him a whole lot personally though.
Surprisingly, there is a whole community on YouTube dedicated to reviewing beer, but it’s pretty niche. Some of the biggest channels only have maybe 10-30k subs. I’ve been doing it for over 3 years now and have around 1200 subscribers. It’s great reviewing new beers and immersing yourself in the community. I’ve made numerous friends online and in real life because of it.
I just wish YouTube would push more wholesome content like this nowadays, but they never will.

Maybe he's nto doing it to get wealthy. He'd be drinking beers because he loves them anyway. And instead of typing up or audio recording a diary on these, he uploads it to youtube for himself to enjoy as an archiver of beers.
